It was great fun working with Ten Horizon, passionate people that know what they’re doing with a great end result. We’d recommend working with Ten Horizon with no hesitation whatsoever.”

Stephen Moir – PPMA

“I’m Stephen Moir and I’m President of the Public Sector People Managers’ Association. I commissioned Ten Horizon to develop a blog presence for PPMA to improve communication with our members. Ten Horizon have proven really exceptionally good at working with us because they’re very responsive to our needs… they’ve been very proactive… and they take a very strong sense of what we’re trying to achieve and build that into the blog and other channels they’ve developed for us. So in terms of recommending them, I couldn’t speak more highly of an organisation in terms of their responsiveness, value for money and professionalism.”

President-Elect Barack Obama launches weekly video address on YouTube

This week heralded the launch of Barack Obama’s new regular video address – he plans to publish weekly on YouTube throughout his Presidency.

The President-Elect used new media tools like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to devastating effect during his campaign…you can only wonder how he might employ social media to engage with not only US citizens, but also the wider World over the next four years.

It’s also going to be interesting to see how quickly politicians in the UK start to seriously adopt Web 2.0 tools as a means of engaging the electorate - I can see them playing a major role in the 2010 General Election campaign.

New Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera is a big hit!

Kodak Zi6 I took delivery of one of Kodak’s new Zi6 pocket video cameras this week and have been testing it out…first impressions are pretty good.

The camera retails at £129.99 and let’s you record in HD and VGA – like the Flip Video Ultra and Mino it comes with software that let’s you easily edit and upload your videos to You Tube. It comes in two colours, black and pink and no, I didn’t go for the latter!

The internal memory is pretty small and only lasts seconds if you’re recording in HD – luckily though, the camera comes with an SD memory card slot that takes up to 32GB cards.

The HD quality is great, particularly when played back on an HD TV, but note when filming you’ll need a really steady hand or a tripod, since the camera doesn’t have image stabilisation.

All in all, I’d say it’s well worth £129.99 – check it out at Amazon.

Kids Allowed – Corporate & Recruitment Videos

Brief

Jennie Johnson, Managing Director of multi-site childcare business ‘Kids Allowed’ asked us to help increase the effectiveness of her web marketing – she wanted to promote the award winning services of Kids Allowed to parents as well as publicise the fantastic career opportunities on offer to prospective, high calibre employees.

Solution

We produced two short, colourful and fun web videos that authentically reflected the Kids Allowed culture and environment. The first featured Jennie and focused on communicating key corporate messages to parents. The second starred existing employees; they talked enthusiastically about working at Kids Allowed and outlined the great range of benefits, training and career opportunities available. We then worked closely with the client’s web team to seamlessly integrate both videos into their existing website.

Results

The videos went down a storm with customers and employees alike and importantly, proved immediately successful – helping to convert new business within weeks of going live. In Jennie’s own words we “…delivered a great end result!”

Sylvia Doyle – Reward First

Reward First People Consulting“I’m Sylvia Doyle and I run a company called Reward First, which is an independent HR Consultancy. I asked Ten Horizon to create a specialist reward blog and I believe that the blog, which is called ‘Just Rewards’, is the first UK based blog of its kind. We’re also working together on a new website and that is progressing well. One of the main benefits of working with Ten Horizon is the way they approach the assignments, they really took time to understand what we’re looking for… that approach has worked really well. I would recommend Ten Horizon as they provide very high quality solutions and also they work really hard to manage client expectations… that is very important and that is a specialist skill.”

Business Link – Audio Podcasts & Website

Brief

Business Link wanted to innovatively promote and extend the life of a series of inspirational events featuring famous entrepreneurs like Gerald Ratner, BJ Cunningham and Dragon’s Den favourites Simon Woodroffe and Doug Richard.

Solution

We encapsulated each event in a 10-minute audio podcast especially designed to succinctly capture the essence of the day. The podcasts featured interviews with each of the keynote speakers plus highlights from local business panels and audience feedback. The podcasts were hosted on a state of the art ‘blog based website’ that we designed and built in under a month. This featured RSS Feeds, Flash Media Players and various social media sharing tools including Flickr, which allowed listeners to experience the event, even if they hadn’t been able to attend.

Results

Emails promoting the podcasts were sent to attendees one week after each event – the results of the campaign were phenomenal, with Business Link recording the highest ever email ‘open and response’ statistics of any previous email marketing activity. This they attributed to the highly engaging way the podcasts concisely communicated the key messages from each event.
